Kettering is a multi-ethnic, unincorporated community and a CDP (census-designated place*) in Prince George's County, Maryland. Kettering is adjacent to Prince George's Community College, several gated communities, and Watkins Regional Park, which offers a large playground, a colorful carousel, miniature golf, a miniature train ride, indoor tennis courts, picnic pavilions, various animals in the barn area, and a Festival of Lights every December.
Neighborhood pride shows through to this day in the community of about 16,000. One of the first outer-Beltway suburbs in Prince George's County, Kettering is now pushing middle age, and its ramblers and split-levels are modestly sized compared with houses in newer subdivisions that share the Upper Marlboro mailing address. The properties are well-maintained, and the subdivision's winding, sidewalk-lined streets feature a mixture of townhouses and single-family homes that appeal to a broad market, including young families. Home buyers are attracted to Kettering’s neighborhood schools, recreational facilities, convenient shopping centers, multiple churches, and the surrounding major highways that allow residents to get around easily. It is also conveniently located at the end of the Washington Metro Blue Line and centrally located near our neighbors of Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland
*CDP: A census-designated place is a concentration of a population identified by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purposes.
